This episode of The Blck Doctors Podcast features Air Force veteran Dr. Simone Maybin. She joins us to share her incredible journey which includes four years at the Air Force Academy. She talks about how the leadership skills and resilience she learned at the AF Academy have helped her overcome many challenges. Dr. Maybin never backs down from a challenge. Whether navigating a rigorous coursleoad at a service academy, to bodybuilding competitions during medical school, to joining Vanderbilt University’s inaugural PM&R residency class she never takes the easy way out.

Dr. Maybin talks about the unique specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She highlights some of her rotations in residency and what she learned during her fellowship in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University. Finally, Dr. Maybin talks about her first year in practice and how she brought the pain medicine service line to her hospital as a brand new attending.
