Dr. Italo Brown is an Emergency Medicine Physician practicing in California. After graduating from Morehouse College, he earned his Master’s Degree in Public Health before attending Meharry Medical College. After completing residency, Dr. Brown attended Stanford for a fellowship in Social Emergency Medicine.
Italo shares a typical day in the life of an Emergency Physician at a busy Level 1 Trauma center. He highlights several exciting aspects of the specialty that are pertinent to medical students considering applying to emergency medicine. Dr. Brown’s pathway was long and challenging, but highlighted by his passion for service. His fellowship in Social Emergency Medicine focused on tackling barriers to care and understanding contributors to healthcare disparities. Dr. Brown is the Chief Impact Officer for TRAP Medicine, a non-profit organization that provides barbershop health interventions in local communities.
