TBDP S2E15 Psychiatrist Discusses the Impact of COVID19 on Mental Health

The final episode of this season features Psychiatrist Dr. Kevin Simon. He is currently finishing both Child and Adolescent and Addiction Medicine fellowships at Harvard. Dr. Simon talks about his day-to-day job and details his journey to medical school. His story highlights the significant impact mentorship can have on the trajectory of one’s career. Additionally, Kevin talks about how he was intentional about pursuing certain opportunities along the way.

A year-long research program during medical school gave him the tools to become a writer and researcher. Dr. Simon is well-published, including appearances on NPR and a recent piece in the New England Journal of Medicine entitled, “Them and Me–The Care and Treatment of Black Boys in America.” We end our conversation discussing the impact of COVID19 on our mental health. Dr. Simon leaves us with some inspiration and encouragement as we prepare for a new year.
