TBDP S1:E5 Hometown Hero Battles Healthcare Disparities in Brooklyn, NYC

[powerpress]

In episode five of The Black Doctors Podcast, Dr. Kayana Ward talks about her journey to becoming an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Growing up in Brooklyn, this journey came full-circle since she returned to her native borough to train and ultimately, to practice. Dr. Ward discusses the role she plays in educating the next generation of physicians and Obstetrician/Gynecologists. Have you ever experienced micro or macroagressions? Dr. Ward has, and she shares how she dealt with these aggressions (as only a true New Yorker could). Kayana is one of my very good friends from medical school, and she inspires me to be the best physician-educator possible. Are you or someone you know interested in the field of obstetrics? Dr. Ward discusses the qualities that make a medical student stand out on their rotation and what she looks for in the residents she works with.
