Howard Alumnus Working to Increase Diversity in Orthopedic Surgery

In this episode I chat with Dr. James Carson , an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive surgery. He shares his incredible story that takes him from Battle Creek, MI to Johns Hopkins, to Howard University Hospital and on to Texas. 

Hear how Dr. Carson decided to become a physician at a very early age. In this episode he talks about discrimination he experienced along the way. He shares tips for aspiring orthopedic surgeons and practice essentials for young attendings. As of February 1st, 2022, Dr. Carson joined a fellow Howard University graduate in private practice at the Next Generation Orthopedic and Spine Institute located in Houston, TX.
