In this Veterans Day episode of The Black Doctors Podcast, I chat with Naval Officer Lieutenant Junior Grade Paige Monk. She is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and a student aviator (soon to be helicopter pilot.) She talks about her daily life in flight school and the intense studying she must do to earn her wings. She talks about her decision to apply to the Naval Academy and how she was able to found a supportive community during her time there. She also talks about the need for diversity among the officer ranks of the US Military.
It was great to hear how LtJG Monk is breaking barriers in a male-dominated field. I was certainly inspired and I’m sure you will be as well. Have you ever considered applying to one of the military service academies? Have you thought about joining the service? If your answer is yes, then this episode is for you!
