30: VIP Patients and Increasing Healthcare Disparities

VIP Patients and Increasing Healthcare Disparities

As the year comes to an end and we wrap up Season 6, we’ll close this season with a chat on healthcare disparities and the treatment of VIP patients. The NY Times recently released an article entitled: ‘Major Trustee, Please Prioritize’: How NYU’s E.R. Favors the Rich.

This article features stories from former employees at a major academic hospital that describe how they managed “VIP Patients”. There are several allegations describing preferential treatments.

Have you ever treated a high profile patient? How do you deal with pressure from hospital administrators or leaders that encourage preferential care to certain groups of people?

We are still accepting applications for sponsors for our next season. Additionally, please forward any guests you might want to hear from or see on the show!
