28: From an HBCU to the Ivory Towers of Academic Medicine w/ Dr. Mazi

From an HBCU to the Ivory Towers of Academic Medicine w/ Dr. Mazi

This week we are priviledged to hear from Dr. Marius Chukwurah, a graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine, Duke University Internal Medicine Residency program, and current Cardiology Fellow.

He tells his unique story about his pathway to medicine and shares the game on how to succeed with matching to competitive programs. He talks about his journey overcoming imposter syndrome and how he thrived in environments that are not typically built with underrepresented minorities in mind.

We wrap up by talking about life as a Cardiology fellow and the financial and educational benefits he has received through off-duty employment (aka moonlighting).
